Fishing boat on open water near remote Haida Gwaii islands at sunrise
HAIDA GWAII FISHING

90 miles offshore, salmon arrive in waves.

The archipelago forces every Pacific salmon through these waters. Generous limits, Chinook to Halibut, chef-prepared meals, and a lodge overlooking Shingle Bay.

FISHING TYPES

Choose your target and we'll get you there

Haida Gwaii's waters hold Chinook, Coho, Halibut, and bottom fish in generous limits. Each species runs different seasons, each requires different tactics.

Chinook salmon

Chinook salmon

The heavyweight run. Summer and fall. Trolling deep channels and rocky points where they stage before moving upstream.

Coho salmon

Coho salmon

Aggressive and acrobatic. Fall runs are strongest. They'll take surface plugs and respond to lighter tackle than Chinook.

Halibut

Halibut

Bottom-dweller and powerful fighter. Year-round presence. Jigging and heavy tackle in deeper waters, 200+ feet.

Lingcod and bottom fish

Lingcod and bottom fish

Consistent year-round action. Yelloweye, Snapper, and other species. Jigging works in deeper holes and rocky terrain.

Combination fishing success

Combination fishing

Switch targets as runs change. One day trolling for Chinook, next day jigging for Halibut. Adapt to what's feeding.
